A wonderful selection of stories to read at the end of each chapter, from Lorrie Moore to James Baldwin to Chekhov. I mean, most seasoned authors would know them, but LaPlante provides a good refresher on how to craft characters, beginnings, ends, scenes, settings, etc.

Exercises — Exercise 1: My library Help Advanced Book Search. To date, I’ve picked up the book only a handful of times, making my famed notes in the margins to return to at a later date for inspiration.
